It’s a fact that we have a thing for yellow right now, so when our friend Kristy from Soho Roses was pulling out these yellow rose bushes, we got to thinking about what we could do with them. They have not been the prettiest variety or a particularly good producer so we decided that dragging them over the fence at our local vacant block and taking some photos was just the thing. We have quite a history with this empty block, foraging grasses, eucalypt branches and wild fennel over the last 6 or so years. We’ve tried to plant stuff but beneath the thin layer of topsoil is concrete rubble and rubbish. Nevertheless, we have quite a soft spot for this little moment of wilderness amongst the urban wilds of Brunswick.
It was such a pleasure to collaborate with Lenise Ormsby on these photographs and to see my team in their element.
