ETHOS After more than two decades working in weddings and large-scale events, we’ve witnessed first-hand the amount of waste that can be generated by florists. For an industry that relies on the land for our livelihood, this seems especially counter intuitive. Cecilia Fox is committed to following more sustainable floristry practices. We work with local growers, gardeners and foragers whenever possible, and guide our customers towards what’s in season rather than what’s on trend. We don’t use floral foam, avoid plastics and all our carefully sourced materials are composted at the end of their lives. MELANIE STAPLETON Cecilia Fox founder and creative director Melanie Stapleton has been immersed in floristry for over 25 years, starting her career in Aotearoa at age 16. After relocating to London to work for many top florists, Mel moved to Australia to start Cecilia Fox, where for over 15 years she has been considered one of the country’s most influential florists. She has recently returned to her roots, and a fresh start, in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa. We were exhausted, but sometimes the best work you do happens when you are falling apart don't you think? Finally, we were our own client. &nbsp;I'd had this idea for a shoot that was kind of weddingy but less gendered, with more floral and more joy and more LOVE.
